After school adventures...

The village where my big girl started school in September has it's own woods so we've been making the most of as many after school walks in the woods as we can before the nights draw further in and make it far too dark and scary!

She has such an amazing imagination and loves nothing more than to go hunting for the Gruffalo. Every season brings something new to look forward to that makes me fall in love with it all over again and now that autumn is firmly established it had convinced me that it is most definitely my favourite, at least for the next couple of months ;) The colours of autumn are so vibrant and beautiful.

And there are fewer things more precious than the treasures autumn sends us to collect. My four year old is oh so proud of her autumn woodland walk spoils :)

I must admit I do find it impossible to walk past all of the shiny brown conkers that litter our path each day without collecting another one or two. For my daughter of course.. *cough*

And when we get home there is nothing better than a good old hot chocolate to get us warmed up!

This week I'm linking up to Country Kids from Coombe Mill, it's my first time so be kind! And I'll be whipping up a hot chocolate later so I can settle down and browse some of the other entries...

  1. Lovely pics. It's so heartwarming when children find joy in nature. Wonder if you'll both do the walks when it snows - I think yes!

    1. Thank you :) There is actually also a big hill at these woods which is a very popular sledging destination when it snows so that is a definite yes! I think V will just be big enough and brave enough to be able to participate if we get snow this year - last winter she loved being pulled around in her sledge but was not being sent down any hills!

  2. Welcome to Country Kids and thanks for linking up the lovely photos from your autumnal walk. As you say it's a season just bursting with colour and treasures to be found, I'm sure you will be returning for many more adventures in the woods. Thanks again for joining in and I hope to read more about your outdoor fun in the future.
