Baby's Best Friend

Playtime. I thought that this would be so easy as it's playtime all the time in our house. I wondered about taking pictures of the scene of devastation which is my living room now almost constantly strewn with toys (I'm a Monica from Friend's neat freak and it's been hard embracing the mess!) I thought some pics of Baby V playing with her cousins who she adores would be fab but didn't want to post without asking my sister and that would mean telling my family about my blog. Then I wondered about finding some photos of our cat as a kitten when he had a toy collection to rival that of Baby V now!

Then suddenly it was obvious. I should capture the two of them together. They are the best of playmates. Hide and seek and chase are their favourite games and I suspect things are going to become even more fun now that Baby V is ever more mobile. Watch out Captain, soon there will be no place to hide!

This post was written for week 22 of The Gallery over at Sticky Fingers. No cats were harmed in the process. Go and visit to see more Playtime images. I'm sure a lot of fun has been had this week!

  3. Thank you. He is very good with her. Sometimes when he runs away we think he has had enough and gone off to hide but if she doesn't follow he always comes back to find her! x

  16. Oh, how lovely that they play together. Think Evie would love to play with our cat but he's a cranky old fella and much prefers to sleep!

  17. So cute! Particularly the last shot! I love it when children have pets to play with... although I'm not sure our dog would agree! :)

  18. Aw, you know it took me ages to get our kids used to cats. We don't have any pets but when we go to stay at my mum's, she had a cat that terrified them even tho it was the softest thing going and was more scared of them. Last time we visited, they suddenly changed and followed her everywhere, never once scared. The cat only went and died 3 weeks later! Arrgh. Still, my mum has now got a new cat so we'll see on next visit if we have to start all over again. Gah!

  19. Oh my! BRILLIANT photos and BRILLIANT post! Beats my Yo Yo... love how they are playing togther. Our cats like the kids, but only tolerated being stroked, poked and mawled. No playing though (unless it is pinching their toys, see said yo yo)

  22. Aw, that's very cute! Great post! There is something very special about a relationship between a cat and a small person. One of our cats is inseperable from my 4yo and it's very lovely.

  25. whatdidyoudotodaymama - he's not as young and playful as he once was but we're lucky he still loves some playtime! x

monkeymummy - I'm sure he loves it really ;) Pets are good, as she already has a cat I wonder what she'll want next once she can ask?! x

kateab - Ahh, such a shame. Hope it goes well with the new cat, hopefully it won't matter that it's a different cat now they're over that initial fear x

  26. redtedart - Thankyou so much Maggy. He is a funny cat, likes his independant time off hiding but then also likes a good play! Think he is a bit confused about whether he is a cat, a dog (he plays fetch!) or one of us! x

  27. Nova - Yes, they certainly do! :)

Mirka - Thank you, we're glad they get on so well, could have been so different! x

christinemosler - Thanks. That is so cute, I hope they are like that. My husband grew up with cats and had one like that. I always wanted one and had to wait 28 years until I was married for the captain, but he was worth it! x

  28. If I Could Escape . . .- Thank you - it's actually the cat's tunnel, lucky he's a good sharer! :)

    planb - thanks, it's so cute x

parklover - Thank you, they have lots of fun together! x

  30. Lovely photos - looks like your little girl and cat are having great fun! We keep putting of getting a dog - our boys would love it but we're wary of the commitment. Maybe one day when they're a bit older! Helen

  31. Thank you Helen. Think cats are easier as they don't need walking etc but still a commitment and have to be considered when going out for the day/going away. When we just had him I remember thinking at least if we had a baby we'd just take her everywhere with us! x
