My Daddy - by Baby V

My daddy was looking after me long before I was born. Wrapping mummy up in cotton wool, attending to her every need, keeping us both safe.

On the night I was born the love he felt for me exploded and he held me so gently in his big hands, any previous worries of handling a newborn baby vanquished.

Straight away he was a natural father. Eager to help mummy when she was feeding me, keen to change my nappies and struggle with my babygrows. Uncomplaining about me getting him up in the middle of the night.

He gave wonderful cuddles. I liked to peck him and nuzzle into his neck. He showered my head with kisses and could soothe me asleep by stroking down my forehead.

He didn’t think he could love me more and then one day I smiled at him and it was the best feeling in the world.

He didn’t think he could love me more and then I started to giggle at his jokes and eventually I called him ‘dada’. He thought his heart might burst.

All the time I’m growing he marvels at my every development. He helps me learn new things. He rushes to my aid when I get myself into some scrape or other. He knows I’m the cleverest baby in the world.

He works hard to make a better life for us and never complains. He gets up extra early of a morning to spend time with me before he goes to work. I like to wave him off and I stop everything when I hear his key in the door. He makes bath time the best part of the day.

He is patient, more patient than mummy and me! He is calm even when I give them reason to worry. He is devoted to me and mummy. He always puts our little family first.

He thinks he couldn’t have asked for a better daughter, but it’s me who couldn’t have asked for a better daddy. Already he is shaping the little lady I will become and because of him I grow more amazing every day.

To my daddy I’m the most beautiful, talented and intelligent daughter in the world. He says he’s locking the doors when I’m 16. I know he will always be there to protect me.

I am his princess. He is my hero.

Happy Father's Day Daddy xxx
