Mummy's at Work

Well, it is done. I made it through my first week back at work. For so long I had been anxious about it, worried about leaving Baby V and concerned about how I would manage at my job having been away for so long. And all things considered it really wasn’t that bad.

Of course leaving Baby V was hard. I had kept meaning to practise in the weeks previous but then that just seemed like a waste of our remaining time together. I felt that we were in our own little routine and I didn’t know how this would cope with the introduction of me working. It also marked even more the transition we are in at the moment as she goes from baby to toddler. Knowing my maternity leave was over made me sad that this period of us at home together was over. And it is unbelievable how fast it went.

But I know that she is having heaps of fun at each of her grandparents when Mummy’s at work. That she is no doubt getting more attention than I can always give her as I try to do stuff around the house. And for me too going to work is not such a bad thing. For a start it will be a relief to have some extra money coming in and possibly be able to afford a few treats. And it’s a bit of a rest from chasing a baby round all day, I hardly knew what to do with myself with a full lunch hour to myself! Also time away makes me realise how lucky I am to have such an amazing buba and appreciate our time together all the more.

I know last week went well, but I do feel a little sick today at the thought of it all starting again tomorrow. I think it’s just going to take a bit more getting used to...
