Bath time stories

Another lovely bath book with a familiar feel to it. ‘Katie the Kitten’ is illustrated by Axel Scheffler of ‘The Gruffalo’ fame. As you would expect the illustrations are just beautiful with characters that jump off the page to you and plenty of detail. I expected it to be a hit as we have a black cat of our own who the munchkin is fascinated with, and Katie’s big eyes do grab her attention.

The book tells the story of little ginger cat Katie the Kitten and her adventures by day and night in a lovely rhyme. There is also a squeaker on the front page to add your own sound effects to the tale. As a bath book this is a lovely large size which makes the most of the illustrations and especially interested the munchkin as of late the bigger the book the more she favours it! The squeaker is great to incite her interest and also to distract her when I need to rinse her hair etc.

The large pages are easy for our ten month old to handle and she loves to turn them back and forth. It is just as good a book out of the bath as in as it’s wipe clean non tearable pages make it perfect for grubby and mischievous little fingers! I also feel that it is a book which will grow with her for some time longer as as she gets older there are lots of little features in the illustrations to find and point out and the rhyme is one she might remember and recite.

Another success, a great way to have fun while learning and splashing! Read other great reviews of child and parenting books at The Flying Start Mummy Bloggers Book Club.
